7 Things the Church Pretends are Biblical
I often joke about our traditions by saying they are found in the book of Hezekiah. I’ll quote a chapter and verse and tell them to look it up later. By the way, it’s difficult to find when there’s no book of Hezekiah, to begin with. My point — we hold on to many traditions (or preferences) as if they’re founded in Scripture when in reality, they really aren’t. Have you noticed how the Church does this? I’m sure there are more than seven, but let me start off by sharing the seven I’ve thought of. Share in the comment section, if you have more to add to these seven! I would love to hear from you!
‘Freedom’ is Polarizing Our Nation — It’s SAD
The face-off in Ottawa (known as the ‘Freedom Convoy’) may be coming to a close, but the narrative is far from concluded. It may have started with a group of truckers on January 22, but it has quickly turned into a platform for frustrated citizens, a nightmare for residents, and continued stress for overwhelmed leaders. Let’s face it, COVID hasn’t been easy. Far from it. There’s pent up frustration everywhere you turn. Unemployment, worry, economic loss, sickness, rules, restrictions, and of course trying to get your head around what the future will look like.
Why I Use Pen and Paper
When I first started using an iPad, stylist, and note-taking app, I thought, “No more pen and paper!” It sounded like the perfect way to avoid spending money on notebooks, pens, and maybe even save a few trees. In fact, people were fairly excited about the new technology, and whenever they saw me using my iPad for notes, would ask what app I was using and if it worked well. Generally speaking, it was a positive reaction. For the most part, I felt the same way. But it didn’t take long before I ran into a few problems and concerns.
Church Conflict: 3 Types of Conflict and How to Navigate Them
Conflict WILL happen. The question is: will you let conflict sink you? If there’s one mistake we make when leading change, it’s pretending conflict doesn’t exist. We’d like to think we don’t avoid conflict, but more often than not, we don’t address it. Instead, we make a big deal out of the small stuff and ignore the awkward situations. Here’s how I understand conflict, and how I’ve attempted to navigate them.
